Lantau Island
Dag allemaal,
Het eerste weekend in Hong Kong zit er al op.
Ik heb op twee dagen al een paar plaatsen, waar ik wou eten, van mijn lijst kunnen schrappen. Zaterdagmiddag heb ik Koreaans gegeten en 's avonds Maleisisch.
Hierna zijn Wendy, Rebecca, Jennifer en ik naar Lan Kwai Fong (de uitgangsbuurt van HK) gegaan.
Gisterenmorgen zijn we naar Lantau Eiland getrokken. Dit eiland is tweemaal zo groot als Hong Kong eiland en behoort tot de Hong Kong archipel.
Het was rond de 30 graden en vochtig wat voor een natte en vermoeiende wandeling zorgde naar 1 van de bergtoppen. Hier bevindt zich het grootste bronzen boeddhabeeld ter wereld. Onderweg hebben we gelukkig verfrissing kunnen vinden in een bergriviertje.
In de namiddag hebben we een tempel bezocht waarna we naar het voor sommigen onder jullie bekende Zuid-Afrikaanse restaurantje 'de stoep' zijn gegaan op het strand gelegen.
Hierna zijn in Mui Wo gaan avondeten.
Uitgeput, maar voldaan, heeft de ferry van 19.20 ons terug naar Hong Kong Eiland gebracht.

Hi all,
The first weekend in Hong Kong is already over.
I was able to considerably shorten my list of places where I wanted to eat over the last days. Saturday, I had Korean BBQ for lunch and Malaysian food for dinner. In the evening we had a drink in Lan Kwai Fong, which the area in Hong Kong to go out.
Yesterday, Wendy, Rebecca, Jennifer and I went to Lantau.
Twice the size of Hong Kong Island, Lantau is the largest island in the Hong Kong archipelago and is home to Chek Lap Kok Airport, beaches, and Po Lin Buddha.
It was hot and humid, so the climbing to the Po Lin Buddha on one of the peaks was wet and exhausting. Thank god we could refresh ourselves in a little mountain stream along the way.
After having lunch near the buddha statue we visited a temple and went to the beach.
There is a cute South African restaurant named the 'Stoep' which I recommend to all.
It is located on the beach and serves delicious food.
In the evening we had dinner at Miu Wo after which the ferry took us back, exhausted but satisfied, to Hong Kong Island.
